Current status of residential fires
While the annual average rate of occurrence of residential fires accounts for approximately 18.2% of the total fires that breakout throughout the country, approximately 50.1 % (about half) of all deaths due to fire occur in residential fires. Following the implementation of the Article 8 of the Firefighting Systems Act (Feb. 2012), although residential fires increase by 7% as of the end of 2017 (7,636 cases in 2012 and 8,178 cases in 2017), No. of death due to fire dropped by 6.0% (11 deaths) (160 in 2012 — 149 in 2017).※Rate of installation of residential firefighting facilities in the country 29.53% in 2016 -> 41.08% in 2017 (11.55%-point increase)
